episode 39 (ep.13 season 2)

Everyone has to take tests and we see everyone preparing hard in their own ways so they don’t fail.

Summary:

We start off hearing about a ghost story called the Retaining Professor. Harima is walking to school one day when he overhears two people talking about the Retaining Professor. Apparently, students mysteriously see this man when they are going to be held back a year for various reasons. Harima says there is nothing to worry about because his attendance is perfect. However, just then he sees him behind a light pole. When looking and no one is there he gets freaked out. He sees him again when he is going to the bathroom and considers that you can be held back for bad grades, so that night at home he studies extremely hard. The next day he keeps seeing him though, he sees his face in everyone else’s and he freaks out. He runs into Itoko’s room at school and asks for her help. She says she will help him and tells him if he writes English words on his body for his English test it will give him strength. He stays up all night writing words on his body and the next day for the test he is confident. However with worlds all over him the teacher wont’ let him take the test like that so he has to go wash them off. However, because of writing them all over himself he remembers them and does well on the test.

We see the next day everyone studying hard because there are multiple days of tests. Mikoto and Eri note how everyone is working really hard and then they look at Tenma who is completely zoned out and not working hard at all. She suddenly explodes saying how it would be horrible if she is held back because she would be away from Karasuma. The other three girls decide to help her out with a study group. At Mikoto’s house, the four of them help Tenma study. They try and find out how much she already knows but basically she knows nothing because she hasn’t studied at all, she just falls asleep all the time. They have two subjects to teach her and only enough time for one, so they teach her one but Mikoto has the idea to teach her the other, to use someone she loves as an example to help her. They use Karasuma in examples and the next day at school, because of this she is able to get all the answers. She writes Karasuma down for all of the answers as the first name however, and someone copies her because it seems like she knows what she is doing but the person who copied her gets a zero but Tenma passed because she noticed her mistake.

We hear another brief ghost story about a dragon in the school pool. Everyone checks it out in a scary setting and they see something and all run away but it turns out just to be Harima’s giraffe. We then see a pajama party at Tenma’s house with the four girls. They are all hanging around and they ask Mikoto about the date she had with Asou. She doesn’t want to tell them anything but they force her to. She talks about her date about how they went out to eat and then to the store and arcade. As she is telling it she says things that make her sound more feminine but they all stop her and can tell she is lying, saying things like she reads fighting books not romance and things like that. Mikoto tells how she was at the arcade with Asou and they played a racing game, in which she beat Asou and they finally agree she said someone she actually did.
